Counseling

Having an experienced and compassionate mental health professional  will give you the personal freedom to explore your concerns in a safe and productive way.

Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, frustrated, or stuck? I can help you find ways to cope with uncomfortable feelings so that you can feel more  balance in your daily life and more fulfilling relationships and experiences.    Many of us rely on friends and family to help us work through problems, but sometimes our friends or family are part of the problem itself.  Or maybe we just don’t feel comfortable talking about certain issues with them. Oftentimes we withdraw from our support systems and end up feeling more and more alone.

I approach each session with openness, sensitivity, and genuine interest in my client’s well-being. I strive to thoroughly understand your unique personality, experiences, and goals, while remaining an active participant in the session. Through the course of treatment some of the areas we will collaborate on are: increasing your satisfaction from relationships, work, academics, achieving greater intimacy with your partner, and developing coping skills to deal with uncomfortable moods and feelings.  I place an emphasis on working with clients to help them uncover the emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual balance that is important to them.

I believe in a strength-based approach to counseling. Many individual who experience difficulties in school, work, and/or their personal lives come to me with low  self-esteem, difficulties with managing emotional reactions to  stress, and often, strained relationships with teachers, their family, and/or friends. Every person has within them the strength and resilience to cope with their  emotional challenges. Sessions are built upon an emphatic relationship, understanding, and guidance toward therapist and client designed goals. While each person is different, the foundation of mutual trust and respect between myself and the client is seen as the key to change.
